Tamil National Alliance so far has not entered into any talks with the United National Front, the newly formed opposition group.

There is no such indication so far, the Asian Tribune learns.

Mavai Senathirajah, the senior TNA parliamentarian and the party whip said that so far there is no move for any talks either with the joint opposition group or with ruling United Peoples Freedom Alliance regarding any alliance.

He further said that it is too early for any such talks till the dates for elections are anounced.

Furthermore, Asian Tribune asked Mavai Senathirajah about their ongoing negotiations with PLOTE, EPRLF (Pathmanabah Group) and TULF to enlarge the TNA, he said that these too are still in the initial stages.

When asked that there was a move by Rauff Hakeem, the leader of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress to enter into an electoral agreement, Mavai Senathirajah said TNA has not discussed this issue so far whether to entertain Rauff Hakeem and his party for talks.

To another question whether TNA would field a Tamil as its Presidential candidate, he quipped, “not decided.”

In the meantime Mavai Senathirajah said that a TNA parliamentary delegation is visiting the IDP welfare centers in Vavuniya today. He added that he is not visiting the welfare centers as he is indisposed, but other parliamentarians are visiting.

Asian Tribune relaibly learnt that a group TNA parliamentarians flew from Colombo on a government helicopter on Sunday evening to visit the IDPs welfare centers in Vavuniya.
